LABOR In Giresun, the labor force participation rate is 56.3%, the employment rate is 50.8%, and the unemployment rate is 9.9%. HEALTH There are 15 public hospitals and 2 private hospitals in Giresun. 6 of the hospitals in the province are located in the city center (4 public, 2 private), 11 of them are located in districts. According to the Provincial Directorate of Health (2018), the total number of beds in public and private hospitals throughout the province is 1550. The total number of beds of 2 private hospitals in the center is 282. There are 696 physicians, 368 specialists, 328 general practitioners and assistant physicians in all hospitals in Giresun. Family Medicine system has been implemented in Giresun since 2010. EDUCATION Giresun province has an enrollment rate of 94.9%. The number of schools in the province is 415, the number of classrooms is 4247, and the number of students is 70,853. Although there are 56 vocational high schools, there are 16 Public Education Centers that provide adult education under the Ministry of National Education. FOREIGN TRADE Most of the exports to foreign markets in Giresun originate from agriculture-based industrial products where hazelnut processing is predominant. Having a share of 85% in provincial exports, hazelnuts are exported to European countries such as Germany, Italy, Sweden, England, France, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands, where the hazelnut-bound food industry is developed and hazelnut consumption is widespread. According to 2019 data, exports of Giresun province was around 233,493 million $. Germany, India and China lead the way in imports.
